VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE POSTS OF BURSAR AND DIRECTOR OF WORKS OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE ZURU, KEBBI STATE
1. Introduction:
The Federal University of Agriculture Zuru, Kebbi State hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the post of Bursar and Director Works, Physical Planning and Maintenance of the University.
2. Brief History of the Institution.
The Federal University of Agriculture Zuru was established following the assent to its establishment bill by the President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari GCFR on 25th July, 2019 making it the fourth University of Agriculture in Nigeria and situated in the Northwest region of the country. The University operates three Colleges with Ten (10) degree awarding programs in Agriculture, Basic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.
3. Vision:
The Vision of the University is to develop creative, innovative, research-oriented and competent human resource with enthusiasm to service and inspired by entrepreneurship in agriculture and livestock resources.
Mission:
The University is envisaged to be an institutional player in prototypical agricultural skills acquisition as well as entrepreneurship, preoccupied with the task of strengthening human capital and to bridge the gap between human and animal health, for effective development of agricultural and livestock resources.
Mandate:
The Mandate of the University is to harness agricultural and livestock resources for human development and to promote contemporary agricultural technology and advances in Veterinary Medicine through the functional integration of information and communication technology in teaching, learning and research environment.
4. THE POST OF BURSAR
i. Responsibility
The Bursar is a Principal Officer and as the Chief Financial Officer of the University is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University. For the vacant post, the University seeks candidates with the vision, proven academic distinction, managerial ability, integrity and transparency in private and public life. The candidate should have the ability to develop linkages with the external communities to support the emerging needs of the University, command respect, and engender cooperation and loyalty of staff and students of the University.
ii. Qualifications and Experience
Candidate must possess a good honours degree not below Second-Class Lower Division in Accounting from a recognized University as well as recognized professional qualifications, such as ICAN, ACA, ANAN, CPA, ACMA or ACCA.
The candidates must have had not less than fifteen (15) years cognate post-qualification experience preferably in a university or comparable institution and must be holding the position of Deputy Bursar for not less than Five (5) years in the University. They must also be Information and Communication Technology (ICT) compliant and be able to command respect and carry colleagues along. The possession of higher degree(s) would be an added advantage. The candidate must not be more than sixty (60) years old at the time of assumption of duty.
iii. Salary and Conditions of Service
The Salary and Condition of service for the post shall be as obtainable for the post of Bursar in Nigerian Federal Universities and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Council of the University.
5. DIRECTOR OF PHYSICAL PLANNING, WORKS AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES
i. Responsibility
The Director of Works and Engineering Services is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day running of the Directorate. He is also responsible for the day-to-day physical/infrastructural facilities management and maintenance in the University and responsible for the supervision and ensuring quality standards/maintenance and servicing of physical structures in the University. The Director will be responsible for keeping all inventory of all University properties and their maintenance, security and upkeep. He should carry out any other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.
ii. Qualifications and Experience
Candidate must possess a good honours degree not below Second-Class Lower Division in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Quantity Surveying or any relevant degree from a recognized institution. Possession of a higher degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage. Be a member of an appropriate professional body with a current practicing license as well as minimum of fifteen (15) years post-qualification working experience and must have attained the rank of a Deputy Director for not less than Four (4) years in a university system.
iii. Salary and Conditions of Service
The Salary and Condition of service for the post shall be as obtainable for the post of Director, Works, Services and Maintenances in Nigerian Federal Universities and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Council of the University.
